how-to
Find your PPRA codes on the register.
Your codes are public. PPRA lists every registered contractor's codes on its IPMS register, and looking yours up takes two minutes.
Five steps
- Open the register. Go to ipms.ppadb.co.bw/registerdcodes. It is PPRA's own site, it is free, and it needs no login.
- Type your company name, without "(Pty) Ltd". The register spells it "(Proprietary) Limited", so Kgosi Civils (Pty) Ltd finds nothing and Kgosi Civils finds you. Leave the other boxes as they are.
- Press Search, and tap Codes on your company's row. Each row shows the contact person and phone number PPRA holds for the company, which is how you tell yours from a company with a similar name.
- Screenshot the window that opens. It lists every code you hold: discipline, code, sub-code, grade and expiry date. Get the whole table in the picture.
- Send the screenshot to Tend.ai on WhatsApp. We read it, and your tender alerts use those codes from then on. Nobody has to check it first, because it is PPRA's own page.
What the window looks like
A made-up company, laid out the way the register shows it:
| Discipline | Approved Code | Approved Subcode | Approved Grade | Exp.Date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Works | 02-Electrical Engineering Works and Maintenance | 01-Electrical Installations | OC | 07/02/2029 |
| Services | 120-ICT Technical Support Services | 05-Network Management and maintenance Services | NA | 07/02/2029 |
| Supplies | 203- Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Fire and ICT Supplies | 04-Fire- Fighting Equipment | NA | 07/02/2029 |
Reading it
- Code and sub-code are the numbers before each name: the first row above is code 02, sub-code 01. A tender names the codes it is open to, and you can bid only in the ones you hold.
- Grade applies to works only and caps the size of contract you can bid for. Services and supplies are not graded, so the register prints NA.
- Exp.Date is day first. 07/02/2029 is 7 February 2029.
If your company is not in the list
Try a shorter part of the name: one distinctive word usually finds it. If it still does not appear, or the window says a fee is due instead of showing codes, your registration needs attention with PPRA. Their service desk is on +267 360 2098 or 360 2099.
