A tender you never heard about is a tender you lost without bidding. We read every notice published in Botswana, down to the Gazette scans nobody has time to page through, and check each one against your PPRA registration. The ones you can win arrive on WhatsApp. The rest never reach your morning.

Somebody has to read the Gazette. Somebody has to check twelve council Facebook pages, eighteen parastatal portals, the Tuesday and Friday Daily News and the Mmegi classifieds. Somebody has to know that a grade caps your contract value, that sub-code 01 is not sub-code 04, and that thirteen categories are closed unless the company is wholly citizen-owned.
Today that somebody is you, at eleven at night, or a person you pay. From tomorrow it is a five-pula-a-day service that does the same round four times a day and has never once forgotten a Friday.
P1,825 a year against P120,000 for a seat that does it worse. That is twelve thebe per source per day, or three thebe per reading — and it is the only line on your books that can pay for itself in one morning.

Tenders in Botswana are not published in one place. They are in a scanned Gazette, on parastatal portals, in council Facebook posts and in the back of a newspaper. Watching one of those is how tenders get missed.
Published as scans, not text. Read locally with two OCR engines and cross-checked, because a misread digit in a code is a missed tender.

Council work is small, and small is what an OC, A or B grade can actually win. Most of it is announced on a Facebook page and nowhere else.

Donor-funded work in Botswana is advertised abroad first. Firms here can bid for it, and almost none of them ever see it.

An alert you have to filter yourself is an alert you stop reading, and an alert you stop reading is how the next tender gets missed. We run four checks on every notice before it reaches you, so what arrives is work you could actually be awarded.
